Eva Freeman-Lewis Doll Collection

Eva Freeman-Lewis Doll Collection

Eva Freeman-Lewis with her family, Grant and Leona Freeman, built this doll collection from various cultural areas from Africa, Afro-Centric Islands, Europe, and African-American areas of the United States. Ms. Freeman's family collected these dolls over 38 years before choosing to donate them to the Melvin B. Tolson Black Heritage Center at Langston University.

Eva Freeman-Lewis graduated from Langston University in 1976. The dolls in this collection represent a variety of times and places. The dolls are arranged in the order in which they were received, not by doll age, type, date, or cultural significance.
